Suites in tents
At Cottar’s 1920s Camp, there are 11 white canvas safari tents. There are 2 Honeymoon Suites, 5 double suites (one with twin beds), and 4 Family Suites. All of the tents have old-fashioned furniture, verandas, bathrooms with showers and changing rooms next to them. There is a living room, a dining room, and a cozy fireplace in each of the Family Suites’ two bedrooms.
There is a lot of space between the huts so that everyone can feel safe and private. In the center Mess Tent, there are places for guests to read, relax, and eat in style. The Explorers Tent has first edition books, real explorer gear, and Maasai culture that show visitors the interesting past of safari.
You can cool off in the pool and spa area during the hot day, in between activities and seeing animals.
Cottar Bush Villa
This modern and high-end private house in the Masai Mara has 5 bedrooms with private bathrooms and stunning views for up to 12 people. There is only one way to book Cottar’s Bush Villa, and it comes with a full staff of dedicated and discreet staff, such as a chef and a safari guide with a game car.
Cottar’s Bush Villa is over 10,000 square feet and has everything you could want. It has a large living room, a dining room, a great viewing deck, internet access, and satellite TV. All of the bathrooms have beautiful views as well. Every day, there is a massage therapist offered. You will have your own space at Cottar’s Bush Villa.
The place where the lodge is
You can get to this safari camp in Kenya’s Masai Mara by taking a direct flight from Nairobi or another flight that lands at a nearby airstrip and then takes a road drive.
Cottar’s 1920s Camp is in a private reserve at a high elevation with a view of the Serengeti and Masai Mara. The Masai Mara Game Reserve is right next to the 6,000-acre Cottars Conservancy, which is mostly rocky land. The land is pure and perfect, and there is a lot of wildlife there. There is great game watching, and you can often see Rhino, Lion, Elephant, Cheetah, Giraffe, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Zebra, and species that come and go. Eagles and Colobus monkeys can be seen in the nearby hills.
In the 1920s, Cottar’s Safari Camp was built in the southeast. It is 1 km (0.6 miles) from the Masai Mara Game Reserve and next to the Serengeti National Park.
By Air
A 15-minute drive gets you to the Cottars Camp airport from the lodge. Only certain companies can fly to this airstrip twice a day from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. Anywhere in the world, private plane charters can use the airstrip to bring guests there before 17:00.
The Keekerok Airstrip is used by all other airlines and air charter flights to travel to the Masai Mara. Keekerok is 90 minutes by car from Cottar’s 1920s Camp, but you can also get a ride there. There are flights from and to Nairobi, Mombasa, Ukundu, Amboseli, Shaba, Samburu, Lewa, and Nanyuki that stop at Keekerok Airstrip.
