Samburu, Northern Frontier District, Kenya is where we’re going.

The high-class Kenya safari camp Samburu Intrepids is set in the Samburu Game Reserve, in the shade of trees along a beautiful stretch of the Ewaso Nyiro River. It is perfectly placed to get the most out of seeing wildlife in the dry northern parts of the country, where you can see Elephant herds and the long-necked Gerenuk on an East Africa tour.

Enjoy exploring on game drives or, for the more brave, a safari on a camel. These are led by Samburu people from the area and are a great way to learn about their culture. Think about getting close to Giraffe and other animals. The guides also lead nature walks, which are a great way to see the many kinds of birds that live in the area.

The kids will have a great time at this Kenya safari lodge’s great activities. They can try the obstacle course and learn about the animals and bush life for hours. Sundowners are a great drink to have in the evening before a tasty meal under the stars. You could look up at the stars and listen to the guide tell you stories about the stars that are important to the Samburu.

The place

The camp called the Samburu Intrepids is in Kenya. It is on the Ewaso Nyiro River in the Samburu Game Reserve. Lion, Cheetah, and Leopard live in the area, as well as Besia, Oryx, and Gazelles, which are desert animals.

Along the Ewaso Nyiro River, which flows through the reserve, it stays alive. The reserve is in the north of the country, and most of it is dry. The area became famous because it was one of the places where Elsa the Lioness, who was made famous by the book Born Free, was raised by George and Joy Adamson. A lot of hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, and elephants live in the river and along its banks. Over 350 kinds of birds live in the area, and the Somali Ostrich is one of them.

Things to do

Samburu Intrepids lets guests see the wildlife of the Samburu and Buffalo Springs Game Reserves in a number of ways, such as on camel rides, on walking treks, and on game drives.

Looking at the stars

On a Kenya holiday tour, this is a great thing to do. Since the lodge is near the equator and on the edge of the northern hemisphere, the naturalist who lives there can help guests name more than 60 stars. Find a lot of things, like the Southern Cross and the Seven Sisters. The guide will talk about the many stories and myths that the Samburu have about the stars.

Fun game drives

Two times a day, organized game drives take place in the Samburu Reserve and the nearby Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, which is known for its natural springs. These drives give you a chance to see the wide range of wildlife in the area. The game drives are led by skilled local guides and trackers who will show you some of the animals that live in this dry area, like the rare Gerenuk. Enjoy a tasty breakfast in the bush while going on a half-day game drive. You can also watch animals while you eat.

Rides on camels

Take a camel, which is one of the oldest ways to get around, and start exploring the area. One of the best things about this spot is the chance to see animals like Giraffes or carefully avoid groups of elephants. It’s a great way to learn about the Samburu people who own the camels and how they live.

Visit to the Samburu culture

The Maasai, who are better known, are connected to the Samburu. A very long time ago, these nomads went down the Nile in search of water and grass for their cattle, which they loved. See how they balance their rich history with current life by coming here.

Walks in nature

Samburu has a semi-arid environment with a lot of interesting plants. Take a slow walk with a Samburu expert and let him teach you about the bush, like how to find animals, use plants, and recognize bird calls. Also, this is a good chance to see some of the 350 kinds of birds that live in the area.

Adventurers Club for Kids

This is a great family adventure show that will keep the kids busy for hours while Mom and Dad take it easy. As they do fun things like an obstacle course, shooting, learning to track, and more, the kids will learn about the wild.
