Your Safari Adventure
You can see Kenya’s diverse wildlife in three very different areas on this 10-day Lewa, Meru, and Mara Premier Safari. There is a strong conservation attitude at Lewa, which is a private conservancy. The biggest group of endangered Black Rhinos in the country lives there, along with the other four members of the “big five.”
Getting to Meru National Park by road from Lewa gives you a chance to see how the scenery changes as the car starts to climb towards Mount Kenya. Meru is a part of Northern Kenya that has never been messed with. Meru is an interesting place to visit. It has thirteen rivers that wind through the park, forming semi-desert plains with big baobab trees and small hills in flat areas called kopjes. The rivers are lined with palm trees and riverine forest.
Continue your trip by air to the Masai Mara, one of the most famous safari spots. This is where the famous “great migration” happens, where over a million wildebeest, zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles move in a circle in search of new grass to eat. Big cats like lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas closely follow these huge groups. Another type of animal that lives on the vast fields is the Masai giraffe, which lives in large groups. There is no better tour than this one.
Day 1: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
From Wilson Airport in Nairobi, you can start your safari by taking a regular trip to Lewa. A guide will meet you at a bush airport and drive you to the camp, which will be your home away from home for the next three nights. On the way to the cabin, take a short game drive and look for Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe.
Day 2 – 3: Big Herds, Big Safari
The next few days of your trip to Kenya should be spent visiting the Lewa region, which is home to Kenya’s critically endangered black rhino. The conservancy works closely with the local groups and puts a lot of the money it makes into projects that help the community and protect the environment.
Drive through the conservancy in open game cars and look for the many species that live there. Keep an eye out for rhino babies that are hiding under their moms’ bellies. Watch for lions being followed by angry buffalo and hiding in a tree to try to get away after a failed hunt.
You can see animals from a different angle when you go on a walk with a professional guide. This is also a great chance to see some of the 350 kinds of birds that live in the area. Lewa is an interesting place with lots of animals. There is never a dull moment there, and the expert guides know where to find all the action. It’s a great way to start a safari.
Day 4: Meru National Park
Enjoy a hearty breakfast in camp this morning as part of your East African safari plan. Then, take the road to the Meru National Park. As you sit back and enjoy the view, the closed car will wind through green farmland at the base of Mount Kenya. You’ll get there in time for a delicious buffet lunch, and then you can take a nap before going on a game drive in the afternoon. Here is the wild northern border of Kenya. Cheetahs and Grevy’s zebras live here, and they are rare and endangered species.
Day 5 – 6: Kopjes and Rivers
You can see the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, lesser and greater kudu, gerenuk, and the Somali Ostrich on guided game drives in this area during your luxury African tour. Enjoy the changes in scenery as you go from open fields with baobab trees to the cool riverine forest, where you can look for crocodiles relaxing on the riverbanks and listen to the monkeys grumbling high in the trees. Elsa the cat made Meru her home after George and Joy Adamson let her go back into the wild. Look for her family members.
Day 7: Masai Mara
Take an organized flight from Meru to the Masai Mara to leave the mostly dry northern areas behind. As soon as you land, someone from the lodge will meet you and drive you through the Mara’s grassy fields to your three-night stay at a high-class lodge. The Serengeti in Tanzania and the Mara are both parts of the same environment. Here, nature shows how abundant she is, and the Great Migration makes the meaning of the circle of life very clear.
Over a million wildebeest can cross the Mara between July and October to graze on the new grass after it rains. We all know that rain can come at any time, and since movement happens when it rains, it can also happen at any time. Since the Mara has resident herds of animals and big populations of predators, it is a great place to go on safari any time of the year.
Day 8 – 9: Big Cats and Open Plains
With this East African safari plan, you can see the vast, empty lands of Africa and feel the freedom of the plains. On organized game drives and bush walks, you can see animals that you will never forget. There are a lot of lions in the Mara, one of the largest groups in the world. You can always see them.
There are also a lot of elephants, deer, Grant’s gazelles, and Masai giraffes in the area.
Day 10: Nairobi
Today is the last day of your Lewa, Meru, and Mara Premier Safari. Before breakfast, you will have time for one last game drive in the Mara. After, you’ll be driven back to the airport in time for your planned flight back to Nairobi, where you can make plans for your next trip. You can also talk to one of our Kenya Safaris Packages consultants if you need a place to stay in Nairobi or want to add a relaxing beach holiday to your trip.
