Angama Mara
The Angama Mara is on the edge of the Great Rift Valley and looks out over the Maasai Mara lands, which are rolling.
Why we love it and think you will too
Because it is in a great spot in the southwest corner of the Mara Triangle, Angama Mara offers both luxurious comfort and unbeatable game watching.
Big groups of wildebeest and, of course, the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo) can be seen on the plains with acacia trees.
Guided game drives, hot air balloon rides, and massages are just a few of the things you can do. Here, every day is different.
Angama is made up of just two small camps, each with 15 glass-fronted tented rooms that offer a great view of the Great Migration, which is the biggest show on earth.
Enjoy the warm Kenyan culture with a private butler who will take care of all your needs.
Your Time in Angama Mara
Many people think that Angama Mara is one of the most beautiful game areas in Africa, and it’s easy to see why.
It is high above the Great Rift Valley in Africa and has many amazing features that would make even the most devoted safari fans go crazy. The views are absolutely stunning, and you’ll get to see a lot of wildlife and beautiful sunsets.
You can choose how to spend your time at Angama. You could get a massage and read a book, or you could go on an expert-led game drive and watch exciting games. There is a lot of different kinds of game, from huge groups of wildebeest to prides of lions. Since the camp is still not blocked in, you might even see some up close, like rock hyraxes joining you for breakfast or cute little dik-diks walking right by your tent.
It’s pretty amazing to be so far away from everything while eating. Think healthy, hearty meals with no tables in sight! They also did a good job with the plan by having only two luxury camps with fifteen tented suites each. There is a cozy and magical feel to staying here, and you’ll even have your own maid to take care of your needs during your stay.
Place to stay
Some people say that Angara Mara is like a place between heaven and earth. The safari rooms with glass walls have the most amazing views of the African Rift Valley.
Angara Mara has two camps with 30 tents made of canvas and glass. Each one is large and beautiful, and it’s meant to draw attention to the acacia-dotted fields of the Mara that are just across the way. The Pavilion is between the two Angara Mara camps. It has an exercise room, a library, a safari shop, and an infinity pool.
There are 11 meters of floor-to-ceiling glass in the Luxury Tented Suites at Angama Mara, and the private decks with rocking chairs are hard to beat. There is even a desk set aside for writing so you can sit down and tell your friends and family back home how beautiful the views are (there is WiFi).
You’ll also love the bright Masai red accents in the decor and the huge beds where you can sneak a nap in the late afternoon. As for the bathrooms, they are shiny and beautiful, with roll-top tubs and two sinks.
There are special cabinets for drinks if you’d like a drink at night or a cold one as the sun goes down. Just ask your maid for anything else you might need. And because Angama Mara is open to kids aged 6 and up, families can stay in one of the rooms that connect to each other.
The place

Nairobi, Kenya’s city, is only a 45-minute scenic flight away from Angama Mara. There are daily scheduled flights from Wilson Airport that will take you there. Kenya Airways, Emirates, AirFrance-KLM, and British Airways are just a few of the airlines that connect Wilson Airport to all the big hubs.

Things to do
Guests at Angama Mara can customize their Masai Mara safari by doing things like hot air balloon rides, walking safaris, and cultural visits to the nearby Maasai town.
Gnus and Game Drives
You can see a lot of animals at Angama Mara. Professional guides and trackers will take you on guided game drives where you can get close to the animals.
Every trip is different, from seeing wildebeests cross the Mara River as part of the Great Migration to seeing lions finish off a new kill. Do not be afraid to ask your guide about an animal you’d like to see. They’ll always be happy to make your drive fit your interests, whether it’s getting a great picture of rolling summer storm clouds or a group of elks performing.
Rides in hot air balloons
Aside from game drives, you can also try hot air balloon rides to get a view of the Maasai Mara from above at dawn. After a short drive from camp to the launch spot, you’ll get a quick safety talk before taking off. This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful ways to see the abundance of wildlife in the area. Make sure you bring the camera with you!
Go out into the wild.
You can go on a guided walking safari at Angama Mara for as long or as short as you want to get a different view of the nearby wilderness.
Guided by Maasai naturalists, these walks are very interesting and offer great chances to see birds and the rare oribi antelope. Walking around is a great way to stretch your legs and burn off some of those heavy meals. It’s also a great way to learn more about the Maasai traditions and the art of tracking animals.
Picnics and being pampered
The Masai Mara is best known for its activities that let you see animals, but Angama Mara also encourages you to go at your own pace. Besides exciting game drives, you can also spend the day reading a good book at the library or lying down by the pool. There is a spa on-site if you like getting massages and foot rubs. You can even take a picnic basket with bubbly and treats made by the chef and go up the nearby kopje.
