Rift Valley Lakes Lodges

Rift Valley Lakes Lodges, In Kenya’s Rift Valley, safari hotels are spread out along a chain of lakes called Turkana, Nakuru, Naivasha, Elmenteita, and Baringo.

To the east of Lake Naivasha is the beautiful headland of Mount Longonot, a dormant volcano that is home to the biggest geothermal power plant in Africa. Around the edges of the crater, there are small steam vents. The mountain sides have very little vegetation, but there is a thick forest inside the crater.

Below that, Lake Naivasha sits still in the middle of a mix of small towns, farms, and resorts. Naivasha is the only big freshwater lake in the Eastern Rift. It gets most of its water from springs. In the Western Rift, all of the lakes are deep and clean. In the Eastern Rift, all but Turkana in the far north, the lakes are very small and don’t connect to the sea. It evaporates quickly near the equator, so the salt levels are very high. This makes a white crust around the edge of the water.

Baringo, Lake Nakuru, Elementeita, Magadi, and Natron are some of these so-called salt lakes. Tens of thousands of flamingos come to the soda lakes to eat the cyanobacteria, algae, and brine shrimps. This is what makes the lakes so beautiful. Their pink color comes from the food they eat.
