Mountain With A Lot Of Spurs

The Maasai word oloonong’ot, which means “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges,” is how Mount Longonot got its name.

Getting up Mount Longonot

If you are living near Lake Naivasha, you can plan a day trip to climb Mount Longonot. You have to be in good health and shape to do the climb because it is very hard. It’s only 8–9 km long, but the whole walk is very steep. It takes about 5 hours of hiking to get from the park main gate to the Longonot peak and back again.
